In Honor of Our Loved Ones -A Garden Sanctuary

April showers bring May flowers… and
benches, and a gazebo, and a waterfall and
new plants, and. . .
Bent County HealthCare Center broke ground
in Fall 2009 for a Garden Sanctuary to be
placed at the entrance of the building. The
garden space includes walking and wheelchair
paths, bubbling rocks, a gazebo, a patio
area and many beautiful plants, shrubs and
trees. The work is nearly complete and the
plants are beginning to bloom.
This project is the result of elder and
staff requests who wanted a beautiful garden
for their home and an area that would
exhibit all who drive by or come in that our
home is
different from any other. As one of only 16
Eden© Certified homes in Colorado, Bent
County HealthCare Center is continuing to
change the old hospital environment into a
home
for our loved ones. Our HealthCare Center is
known throughout the state as an outstanding
facility, one in which our community should
be very proud of. The garden has been a
wonderful addition to our home and something
we are very proud of. The work crew of did a
fantastic job and worked during some of the
worst winter weather. They became part of
our family and we hope to have them back
someday.
Establishing a “Garden of Eden” in front of
our Eden® home will be another example of
the HealthCare Center’s effort to create a
human centered environment for those who
live and
work here. The garden will be much loved by
the elders, staff, families, volunteers and
visitors. Work is being completed by South
Side Lawn and Landscaping of Pueblo and paid
for by grants from the Colorado Garden Show,
Edmund and Eleanor Quick Foundation, the
Virginia Hill Foundation, and many, many
contributions from local individuals.
Donations are still being accepted for the
project and can be made in “honor of” your
loved one. Call Alisha 719-456-0106 for more
information or Donate Now. |
