About Our Curriculum...
MATH
- the activities in our math center give children a concrete,
hands-on experimental approach to developing basic math concepts.
Math is a way of finding things out and problem solving. Math
activities stimulate a child's inquisitiveness and is a vital factor
in the child's learning process.
LANGUAGE
is developed through meaningful experiences; listening to and
learning finger plays, poems, and stories; seeing a print-rich
environment; and by having many opportunities to talk and be
listened to.
SCIENCE
promotes the intellectual growth of children through stimulating
their curiosity. Children are given hands-on real-life activities
that either have predetermined conclusions (teaching cause and
effect) or are open-ended and encourage a sense of discovery.
CREATIVITY
- Our activities in the art center offer a
variety of learning opportunities. Children gain their social skills
as they share and cooperate with the use of materials. They explore
colors, textures, and patterns, thus developing their visual and
sensory abilities. They will assign their own meaning to their
creations. Art provides a medium through which children can express
themselves. Individual projects enhance a child's self concept.
MUSIC
- In our musical games, children begin to get a sense of belonging
to and functioning with a group of other children. Their fine motor
and gross motor skills are strengthened through activities such as
playing rhythm band instruments and marching to music.
HOME LIVING - Through our home
living center a child can integrate what he has learned about the
world around him and how he feels about himself in that world. Thus,
the child develops a better understanding of self and others.
