Bent
County HealthCare Center is proud to announce its
“Eden” certification.
The Eden Alternative is a
not-for-profit organization dedicated to remaking
the experience of aging and disability world-wide.
The Eden Alternative is a fast-growing philosophy
that seeks to change the culture and environment
of today’s nursing homes and other long-term care
institutions. It is a powerful tool for improving
quality of life for residents and for recapturing
a meaningful work life for their caregivers. The
Eden mission is “improving the lives of Elders and
Residents by transforming the communities in which
they live and work”, and the Eden vision is “the
elimination of loneliness, helplessness, and
boredom”. Eden focuses on a life with children,
plants, and animals.
As you know, the HealthCare Center has had Kountry
Kids Learning Center, our child day care, in place
and has utilized plants and animals for many
years. After hearing about Eden and researching
the mission and vision, the staff, residents, and
our Board of Directors supported those goals,
applied for, and was granted, the Eden
certification.
To celebrate
this event, residents, families, volunteers,
staff, and the community were invited to attend
the presentation of the “Eden Tree”. Ms. Sandy
Ransom, Eden Regional Coordinator, presented the
tree to our facility, during a special open house
event that was held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at
Bent County Health Care Center.
